Do Diet Pills Work?

June 20th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I’ve just finished taking these frighteningly large diet pills for two months now. I have lost only 4 pounds. The commercial claims for these diet pills were that I’d lose at least 10 pounds a month. That ads up to 20 pounds I should have lost, not merely 4. As you may guess, I’m not a happy camper and I am still heavier than what I’d like to be.

Now my doctor says that I needed to exercise and eat appropriately while I was taking the diet pills, and it doesn’t matter that the advertisements didn’t suggest that I do anything more than swallow the pills. Apparently, we should just assume that when we take diet pills, we need to eat right and exercise. Go figure.

I didn’t care for the diet pills much. First off, they were huge and left a strange aftertaste in my mouth. Sometimes they’d get stuck in my throat and make life pretty uncomfortable for a while. Second, the diet pills also disrupted my life a bit. I had constipation or upset stomachs for a couple of weeks and there was no middle ground. Some times I felt tired and at other times I believe the diet pills actually made me jittery. It was not comfortable.

My husband thought I was crazy for ordering the diet pills in the first place. He is a total pessimist when it comes to weight loss pills. He’s not convinced that diet pills can actually work and after my very slight weight loss, he’s sure of it. And now I suspect the efficacy of them as well. I’m currently 20 pounds heavier than I want to be and my husband isn’t giving me grief, but I want to like what I see when I look in the mirror.

I know I’m being too hard on myself and also, I’m not finding enough time for exercise. I work full-time, have a part-time job and junk food is now my comfort. I suppose I had this crazy notion that if I made myself take the diet pills every time I had a craving, that they would somehow curb my junk food cravings and enthusiasm for eating. But when it comes to food, I am weak. So…it did not work in the least.

I’m now of the opinion that (those) diet pills just won’t work for me. I will have to start taking the stairs instead of the elevator and parking at the far side of the parking lot. Also, I’ll have to snack on some healthier food during the day and not carry enough spare change for the vending machines.

With that said, I’ve just recently read about the new “alli” diet pills and how they’re being marketed with diet and exercise as part of the plan. Wow! Truth in advertising at last? I dunno, but if anyone is already using them, please let me know how it’s going by leaving a comment below or, become a member of this diet community site and post an article on the subject.

hey everyone – been reading a while- first time poster here at http://www.quickdiethowto.com. Thanks to everyone for all the great data! If this is the wrong category for this post just let me know (or move it mods!). After a recent health scare I’ve been seriously considering various means of dramatic weight loss. Im looking for some input on differnet methods. I’ve done some research at mens health and webMD and am considering possibly using the a supplement method like hoodia pills, possibly high intensity interval training, or s
ome combination. Any suggestions or input would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Some pills are suitable for the individuals and some ingredients in the pills may not be suitable for some persons.
