Have you ever felt like you’ve reached an impasse in life? I mean, really, this 270 lb monkey on my back just won’t get off. If you’ve been following “My Healthy Weight Loss Diet” series, you may have noticed that every time I reach–or, in the case of two weeks ago (week 40), get below–270 pounds, I can’t seem to make any further progress.
In fact, I gained more weight this week–2.2 lbs. What’s funny about this is, that a popular weight loss site calculated that I “…should consume about 2,141 calories a day…” Well, look at the numbers for last week (41) and this week (below); I’m right on the money, so to speak.
Yet, I gain weight at this rate. So, based upon my own observations, I really need to consume ~ 1600 cals, or less, to lose the recommended 0.5 - 2.0 lbs/week.
Let’s test my observations. Next week I’ll eat less than 1600 average calories per day and we’ll see if I lose weight fast; I consider 2 lbs per week a rapid weight loss rate (and safe).

This week’s disappointing numbers:
- Average calories: 2189/day
- Average exercise: 33 mins/day
- Last week’s weight: 271.4 (lbs)
- Today’s weight: 273.6
- Weekly weight loss (gain): (2.2)
- Total weight loss: 15.6
P. S. I even upped the exercise numbers–33 average minutes per day–and I still gained weight; next week I guess I’ll have to up it some more!
