Hello again, I’m back after the holidays. How was yours? What a couple of weeks it has been for me. What with Christmas, my birthday and New Year’s; I went out motorcycle riding in the desert, hung out at the beach and did a lot of partying…and still managed to lose weight!
I didn’t lose weight at the goal I’ve set–2 lbs per week, so I’ll include the weekly numbers separately, to analyze why. If you look at last week’s numbers (below), you’ll see average [daily] calories of 2410. However, on Christmas day and the day after, I consumed 2920 and 3675 cals respectively; this is enough to prevent weight loss. Although, I ate like a bird the rest of the week and ended up losing 0.8 lbs.
I’ve recently wondered about the lingering effects (on weight retention) of overeating. This week’s numbers (12/30/2009 - 01/06/2010) reveal something worth noting: the average calorie number was only 1451 per day, and the highest number for the week was only 1650 (yesterday). And, exercise was up–30 minutes per day. I only lost 1 pound. This begs the question: did overeating the week before have a lingering effect on my weight loss efforts this week?
Inquiring minds want to know
So, I’m going to use next week as a test case. Because I ate lightly this week–if I get my cals under 1451/day and exercise over 30 mins/day, next week–I should lose the pounds at a rate higher than my weight loss plan of 2 lbs per week. Right? This would be the effect of (almost) under-eating, and should accelerate my weight loss efforts…in theory.
Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion; maybe we’ll both learn something…
