Low Carbohydrate

On The Low Carbohydrate Plan

Is it time for another diet yet? This cycle seems to go on endlessly. And the worst part is that so many people doing the popular diet thing, don't even lose the pounds. With that said, how are you doing on your current diet? Is it a complete victory, or total disaster?

I don't want to imply that all diets are invalid, or that you'll never succeed with one. I'm just stating the fact that many people try diet after diet for years and never lose the weight. So is it the diet plan or the person? You should ask yourself this question. Recently, a popular diet is the low carbohydrate plan. You more or less, reduce the amount of carbs in your daily meals.

Do you know how to cut carbs? This is not as obvious as many people might think. Talk to my daughter, who recently went on an alleged low carbohydrate diet plan. She was convinced that bread and pasta was the culprit. That is, bread and pasta were making her get fat. OK, I said. So she gave the "low carbohydrate diet" a try. Managing to remove breads, pastas and other obvious sources of carbohydrates like rice, crackers and snack foods, I had inquire, "What about all the other carbs?" She gave me a strange look and refused to respond. As it turns out, she didn't know that many fruits and vegetables are high in carbs as well. She does now. I did not, however, encourage her to subsist on just meats and water. We also require vitamins and minerals from other foods. This list of foods include carbohydrates. This is why I think the low carbohydrate diet is a little overrated.

Low carbs and sugar is not everything when it comes to losing weight. We have to take into account all the food we consume during the day. Think nutritional value and portions, vs low carbohydrates. Carbs are good for us and offer our bodies a great source or energy. Don't brush them off because of some popular fad. Think about eating smaller portions. Maybe four or five small, well balanced meals every day would be a smarter choice. Try to avoid high fat, sugary and salty processed foods. Prepare your own meals and use unprocessed products. Drink lots of water and stay away from fast foods and restaurants that don't offer balanced meals. This is the real way to shed pounds and stay healthy. It's not the new-age low carbohydrate diet. Also, be sure and exercise daily as well.
